Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a founder of French impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to 'plein-air' landscape painting. 'Le Pont du chemin de fer à Argenteuil,' an 1873 painting of a railway bridge spanning the Seine near Paris, was bought for a record $41.4 million at Christie’s auction in New York on 6th May 2008. The previous record for Monet’s painting stood at $36.5 million. 'Le basin aux nyphéas' (from the water lilies series) sold at Christie's 24 June 2008 for £40,921,250 ($80,451,178) setting a new auction record for the artist.

Paintings by Claude Monet, this kindle version formatted by Joel Lehman. The edition is quite good for following the progression of Monet works. He was a part of a rebel force against the French Academy of Art. Instead of painting every detail of an object the impressionist's painted with a lost in translation. The emphasis was on an initial impression instead of painting minute details, the total composition represented a scene as though the viewer was pasting the landscape or object on a train, and viewed the area or person for only a fleeting moment. The colors are impressions that registered in the painter's mind instead of details. Some of the scenes were painted over and over in different light and weather causing the colors to be different. I enjoyed the edition of Monet's paintings very much. Earlier Monet's paintings are in pastel shades whereas his later paintings are more saturated in color.SPR

THIS IS A BOOK OF MONET WORKS. What More can be said. All the paintings in one place and. at an amazing price.
Images are not good quality and they are not Monet's best works. Most are dark and poster like and with only a few of the popular Monet paintings.

This is not suitable for or PC download, as the paintings are not clear. Pity as I would have purchased other books by the same author depicting other artists
Don't buy it. The photographs are dark and small. Not worth looking at. Not worth buying.

Waste of time. Realizing that it is early in the game for this type of offering, it is still a disappointment. The offering on the e page has a nice hi res image when zooming, but alas, too good to be true. Many of the images need to be rotated and I didn't see a handle to do that. They lack decent color, are way too contrasty, and resolution is crummy. Leafing through pages is balky. It is hard to know what the issue is with size of image storage, etc., but this attempt just isn't worthwhile. Developer, please keep after it and give us something better. It is a valid format and you can charge more for a decent product. Thank you.
Even at $1 this mess isn't worth it. The reproduction is absolute crap, and what's just as bad is that many of the images have to be rotated but can't be. Even on the iPad, if you rotate the device the image rotates with it, so it's impossible to view the image at the correct rotation. The publisher promotes this garbage as formatted especially for digital devices, so I wonder what they would come up with if they weren't making a special effort.
